Who can defend a murder charge after a bar fight?

My cousin was arrested after a fight outside a bar last weekend. He says he stepped in to pull two men apart, then one of them fell, hit his head on the curb, and died at the hospital. Several people saw my cousin standing over him, but he insists another man threw the punch and ran before police arrived. The family has no idea who handles a case this serious. Where can we find a lawyer for a murder charge?

Honestly, the word murder sounds like a huge leap from the story you've described. A bar fight that ends with someone hitting his head is very different from someone deliberately trying to kill him. The charge itself needs to be challenged, not only the claim that your cousin threw the punch. Even if prosecutors say he hit the victim, that doesn't automatically show he intended to kill anyone.

And don't get stuck only on finding the guy who ran. Standing over someone after a fight isn't the same as causing the fatal injury, and the medical timeline may show which blow caused the fall. That's the kind of case to take to a murder defense lawyer: https://arkadybukhlawfirm.com/practice-areas/criminal-defense-federal-crimes/murder/ . The defense needs to separate the fight into individual actions, second by second. One witness saying your cousin was there shouldn't replace proof that he threw the fatal punch.
