Which Book Publishing Services Offer the Best Royalties

I’ve been researching publishing options lately and wanted to open a discussion on which book publishing services actually offer the best royalties, especially for indie authors or those planning to self-publish. There’s a lot of information out there, but it's not always clear-cut when it comes to how much you really earn per sale.

From what I’ve found, Amazon KDP still leads in terms of royalty percentages for eBooks. They offer up to 70% royalties (for books priced between $2.99 and $9.99), which sounds great on paper. But there are small fees and regional restrictions to keep in mind. For paperbacks, it's usually around 60% minus printing costs.

Other platforms like IngramSpark and Barnes & Noble Press also offer decent royalty rates, but they tend to vary depending on distribution and format. IngramSpark, for example, gives you wide distribution, but your royalty might be lower after retailer cuts and printing costs.

Then there are subscription-based platforms like Scribd and Kobo Plus, where royalties are calculated a bit differently, more like revenue sharing based on reading time or engagement, which can be a little unpredictable.

Some authors go with a Book Publishing Company that offers full-service packages (editing, design, distribution, etc.), but these often come with lower royalty rates or upfront costs that eat into your earnings. So it really depends on whether you're looking for convenience or maximum profit.
