What Curtain Width Should You Choose for a Well-Finished Window Look?

Been redoing my living room windows and kept messing up the curtain width — first batch looked so thin and stretched, like there wasn't enough fabric at all. Turns out the fabric width needs to be way more than the actual window width to get proper folds. For lighter fabrics you need almost double to 2.5x the rod width, heavier stuff like velvet can get away with 1.5 to 2x. I was also debating window blinds for one of the rooms since the window's a weird size, but ended up going with curtains everywhere for consistency. Got the actual measurements done through Kingdom of Curtains' free doorstep visit, which honestly helped since I definitely would've guessed wrong on my own. Anyone else in Gurgaon/NCR dealt with this same width confusion?
