    What is FHE01?

FHE01 is a software-level crash error, not a hardware problem. It usually happens when:

    • Game files are corrupted or missing.
    • Third-party software conflicts with the game (like Citrix Workspace).
    • Non-standard controllers, sim wheels, or peripheral devices confuse the game.

Unlike FHC or FHD errors (which often target your GPU), FHE01 doesn’t mean your PC is broken—it’s the game client hitting a snag.

Step 1: Verify Your Game Files

Corrupted files are the most common cause.

    On Steam:

    1. Open Steam Library.
    2. Right-click Forza Horizon 6 → Properties.
    3. Go to Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files….
    4. Wait for the check to complete. Steam will repair missing or broken files.

    On Xbox App (Microsoft Store):

    1. Open Xbox App → Library → locate Forza Horizon 6.
    2. Click the three dots (...) → Manage.
    3. Go to Files → Verify and Repair.

    Step 2: Disconnect Non-Standard Controllers

Peripherals like racing wheels or PlayStation controllers can trigger FHE01.

    1. Unplug all non-Xbox controllers, sim wheels, pedals, and shifters.
    2. Start the game with keyboard/mouse or a standard Xbox controller.
    3. Once in the main world, reconnect your peripherals.

    Step 3: Uninstall Citrix Workspace

Citrix and other virtual desktop apps are a known conflict.

    1. Open Windows Control Panel → Uninstall a Program.
    2. Find Citrix Workspace → Uninstall.
    3. Restart your PC.

Note: If you need it for work, you can reinstall later or wait for a game patch.

Step 4: Install Essential Windows Components

Missing system files can block the game engine.

    1. Download and install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables (x86 & x64).
    2. Update Xbox App and Gaming Services from Microsoft Store.
    3. Restart your PC.

    Step 5: Adjust Graphics Settings

Sometimes FHE01 occurs during heavy cutscenes or Alps map transitions.

    1. Go to Settings → Graphics.
    2. Turn Ray Tracing (RTX) off.
    3. Lower the preset one step (e.g., Ultra → High).
    4. Cap FPS at half your monitor’s refresh rate to reduce GPU load.

Step 6: Use the Windowed Mode Bypass

If the error appears mid-game but hasn’t fully crashed:

    1. Press Alt + Enter to switch to windowed mode.
    2. Drag the FHE01 message off-screen—don’t click OK/Exit.
    3. Click back into the game and continue playing.

    Quick Tips

    • Always restart your PC after major changes.
    • Disable overlays like GeForce Experience or MSI Afterburner if crashes persist.
    • Check that all Windows updates are applied.

By following these beginner-friendly steps, you should eliminate most causes of the FHE01 error in Forza Horizon 6. Get your car running again and enjoy exploring Japan’s roads without interruptions!
