Ongoing issue with debris and abandoned items near shore dive sites

Lately I’ve been noticing more non-diving debris around popular shore entry points. Things like broken crates, old furniture pieces, scrap material, and general junk that clearly didn’t come from diving activity itself.
This creates two problems:
-
Safety risks for divers entering and exiting the water
-
Long-term environmental damage when items are left sitting or get washed back in
Cleanup dives help, but one challenge is what happens after the debris is pulled out. Without proper hauling and disposal, it often just gets piled nearby and forgotten. Some communities have started coordinating with organized junk removal style services to make sure debris is actually removed and disposed of responsibly instead of just relocated.
Curious how other dive communities handle this.
Do you rely on local authorities, dive shops, or private services for post-cleanup hauling?
Any successful cleanup models worth sharing? -
