In motor neurone disease, neurons connected with motor function are mainly affected. Motor Neurone Disease Types involve:

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), in which both upper and lower motor neurons are affected. Progressive bulbar palsy (PBP) affects muscles involved in voluntary tasks like speech or swallowing.

In primary lateral sclerosis (PLS), the upper motor neurons are affected. This leads to muscle stiffness and slow developmental progression.

Progressive muscular atrophy (PMA) affects lower motor neurons. This results in muscle weakness and muscle wasting.

It is essential to understand the specific type of motor neurone disease symptoms to help guide symptom management and treatment planning.
