I met this amazing girl from Romania who studies here in the States and she invited me over for the holidays. She will show me all the cool spots around her home country. I really want to drive around to see the sights myself because joining those huge tourist groups sounds completely awful. Her dad has a vehicle in the garage but there is zero chance he hands the keys over to me. Does anyone know a good rental spot over there that will not charge me crazy fees for every single kilometer driven?

Fathers are usually pretty protective of their cars everywhere you go. The roads over in Eastern Europe get a bit challenging when you drive up to the mountain villages. You might want to pick up a Dacia Duster since those vehicles are built locally to handle rough terrain perfectly. Small town rental shops usually offer fair deals with unlimited distance on those specific models. The paperwork process is usually straightforward at those local desks.

Dude, you will absolutely not regret going on this trip at all. You definitely need to try the local food because it is incredibly delicious. There are tons of interesting places to check out too, from man-made stuff like those ancient castles to natural sights like the massive mountain landscapes. You can bypass the big corporate desks and rent a car in Romania here: https://getrentacar.com/en-US/romania . This marketplace has actual locals listing their personal rides for way cheaper than standard agencies. You just browse through the ads to find an owner who offers unlimited distance for a fair price.
