Is it possible to rent a car in New York that allows driving outside the city?

I have not seen much of the United States. Most of my trips have been around the West Coast. Now I really want to explore the East as well. First on my list is New York, and I am already planning to fly there soon. But I would rather not limit the trip to that city alone. I have always wanted to visit Boston because my mother is originally from there and spent her childhood in that city. I want to see the place where she grew up. Is it possible to rent a car in New York that would allow a short trip to Boston for a couple of days?

Interesting route you picked. The drive from NYC to Boston is full of places worth stopping at, including spots in Rhode Island and Connecticut. So it makes sense not to rush straight to Boston but take your time along the way and explore a bit. As for car rental in NYC, check this source https://buffalonews.com/exclusive/article_86aa387a-e106-55d0-a980-0b0a1b50db05.html . You’ll see where it’s better to get a rental, which car works best for a trip like this, and what places along the route are worth visiting.
