I sometimes need to send documents, but I don’t want to spend a lot at UPS or the post office. Can apps really be a cheaper alternative?

Absolutely. While libraries are the cheapest in-person option at around $1 per page, post offices and UPS cost more — up to $5 per page for some international faxes. Mobile fax apps, however, are much cheaper and more convenient. I read a great comparison on mattallenartistry.com that lists all the costs and shows which apps are the best. Now I can send faxes directly from my phone for just a few cents per page. It’s fast, saves money, and I don’t have to worry about store hours or waiting in lines. For occasional or regular faxing, it’s definitely the most practical option.
