Are headlights worth protecting with film or is it overkill for Dubai?

So this came up in a conversation with a friend last weekend and I have been thinking about it ever since. We were talking about car maintenance in Dubai and he mentioned that his headlights had gone yellowish and cloudy after about two years which apparently is a really common problem here because of the intense UV exposure and sand particles constantly hitting the front of the car. I had honestly never thought about protecting headlights specifically before because I always assumed paint protection was just for the body panels. He told me he had recently looked into Headlight Protection Film Dubai after noticing how bad his lights were getting and said he wished he had done it from the beginning because replacing or restoring headlights is actually more expensive than most people realize. I checked paintprotectionfilm.ae and found some information explaining that headlight film not only protects against yellowing and UV damage but also prevents the small stone chip marks that build up over time and make the lights look dull and scratched. Apparently once headlights start going cloudy it affects how well they actually light the road at night which is a safety issue not just a cosmetic one. That part surprised me because I had always thought of it as purely an appearance thing. My car is about eighteen months old right now so the headlights are still in perfect condition and I am wondering if this is the right time to protect them before any damage starts. Has anyone here had this done on a relatively new car and do you think it made a noticeable difference in how the headlights looked after a few years?
